Netscape 7
The Final Grades

The Final Grades

When the results for each of the four key areas are taken into account, we feel that Netscape 6.0 suffers from a case of too little, too late. Unless you're won over by Netscape 6's cool new interface or features like the My Sidebar, or if strict standards compliance is of paramount importance to you, there's little reason to choose the new browser over IE, especially given its performance (or lack thereof). For now, Internet Explorer 5.5 takes the crown despite the attempts of Netscape 6 to leapfrog the current market leader.

Final Grades:  Internet Explorer 5.5:  A  Netscape 6:  B+  Communicator 4.72:  C-

Pros: · Strict adherence to accepted Web standards, · Interface is intuitive and easy to use, · Support for multiple POP mail accounts, · Solid feature additions & enhancements

Cons: · Performance lags far behind IE5 and even trails Communicator 4.76, · Lacks a number of IE5's features and technologies, · Too little, too late?
